The Rickaneers are a four piece rock band out of Toronto, Canada. The band was born out of Jesse Schanck's chance meeting with drummer Doug Brown, through a mutual friend. Both had similar interests, from 60's garage, 70's blues rock to 90's grunge. They combined these influences to form their unique sound. Creativeness flowed and they began to pen original material. They released their debut Ep in the fall of 2013. Their songs evoke many emotions; feelings of urgency, aggression, desire, defiance, freedom and lust, to name a few. From Doug Brown's thunderous drums, Mike Carroll's eerie guitar, Jonny Medland's melodic bass lines to Jesse Schanck's piercing, reverb soaked guitars and his powerful, sultry vocals, almost any listener will be taken on a ride through musical history. The Rickaneers have been compared to the likes of The Stooges, The Doors, New York Dolls, QOTSA and The Black Keys. The band has made a name for itself in the Toronto music scene because of their energetic live sets, ability to appeal to many genres of music fans, and the skill to consistently deliver great performances. Currently, The Rickaneers have released their sophomore Ep, 'Ghost Town', and are touring behind it.
