"Raucous garage psych four-piece PRETTY VOICES who do not, in fact, live up to their name" – Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.
"Imagine a Frankenstein's monster made with the parts of Iggy Pop, Pete Shelley, Lou Reed and Peter Murphy, you'd get PRETTY VOICES." – Julie Garisto, tbt* "The name Pretty Voices isn't quite as descriptive of what you can expect from the psyched out garage punk four-piece baring the title. In fact, one would be hard pressed to find anything resembling pretty among the group's lead and backing vocals. Early 80's punk and power pop, maybe." – Tim Sukits, Ticket Sarasota "The best rock and roll band in St. Petersburg!" Lee Courtney, Music Director, WMNF, Tampa.
Pretty Voices formed in 2009 from the remnants of two local garage bands, and quickly earned a reputation as a fun live band with strong garage pop melodies and quirky vocal deliveries.
Album: Jangular (2016)
Released in May 2016 as the band's second release, "Jangular" employs a variety of riftfs and themes, from the pop-rock "Crackle Pop" to the darker "Mean Song".

Thrift Store Halo
Formed in 1994 from the ashes of burned-out Chicago pop scene stalwarts, The Hideouts and slack rockers, The Impediments, Thrift Store Halo (TSH) released one self-titled EP (often referred to by collectors and deriders alike, as "The Pink Tape") recorded at Clarendon Studios by Bobby Scumaci (Dave Mason, Edgar Winter, Hi Infidelity) in 1996 and one full-length CD, "World Gone Mad" ("WGM") in 1998. "WGM" was recorded over the course of several weekends between November 1996 and December 1997 at the Noise Chamber near Rockford, Illinois and was produced by Jimmy Johnson (Big Hello, Cheap Trick, the Pimps) and engineered by Ed Dulian (The Snags). It was mixed in Los Angeles at Audio X studios with the help of Sean Freehill (Concrete Blonde, En Vogue, Domino).
GETTING SOMEWHERE? NOT REALLY, NO: The band nearly signed to the Almo Sounds record company (Garbage) in early 1998. After the deal failed to materialize (Howard Thompson, Almo's A&R guy ultimately passed on the band because they lacked sex appeal; the band didn't necessarily disagree), the band signed to Samovar Groovathon, the publishing arm of Chicago indie label Pravda Records, and released the album on their own Hi-Beam label in 1998. The album received critical acclaim in numerous local and national magazines. Yeah Yeah Yeah named "Crashing In" the 48th best song in its Top 100 songs of 1998. The album was distributed via Not Lame and Jam Records. The band's music was featured in television programs Party of Five, Smallville, Pensacola Wings of Gold, MTV's Undressed, the Oxygen Network, MTV's Making the Video (R.E.M.), on Chicago radio stations WXRT (93.1), WKQX (101.1) and international radio stations (the record was "Album of the Week" in St. Etienne, France on Radio Dio 89.5). The band was also a runner up in the Disc Maker's Best Unsigned Band World Series in 1998.
WORST CAREER MOVE: TSH dropped the ball and passed on a possible tour suggested by Aware Records with a then relatively unknown band called Train.
THE END?: The band unofficially broke up in 1999 when Gradishar went to law school, Proce took to remodeling his stately "Essex House", and Seatter returned to a lucrative career in the graphic arts designing cover art and posters for boy bands and playing guitar for Kevin Lee. TSH later performed one-off shows in 2005, 2006
