Desmond Grundy

Words and Music: Lead singer and songwriter, Desmond Grundy, has an accessible creative signature. His studied musical influences end where his stab at artistic genius begins—somewhere between 1977 and this moment of now.
Hooky, indie, guitar music seeded in the structured 4/4 song styles of the British Rock and R&B invasions. These tunes about traveling, justice and ineffable love on a planetary scale weave flashbacks, lyrical déja-vu and blank reality into waves of wall-battering chord patterns, leads and harmonies. This refreshingly original work has carved its own niche with influences from songwriting giants like Iggy, Dylan, the Velvets and the Kinks.
Influences: All of the artists at the "Rolling Thunder Review" show: December 1st and 2nd, 1975: Maple Leaf Gardens - Toronto, Canada and more locally, Teanage Head, The Forgotten Rebels, The Ugly, Daniel Lanois, Gordon Lightfoot, Michel Pagliaro...

Mixed and mastered at Grant Avenue Studio, Hamilton. Special thanks to Paula Humfrey, Bob Doidge, Graham Shaw / Shaw Percussion, my father Sam, and the PTW. This collection of songs came together over five years commencing December 2012. I owe extra thanks to the songwriters who wrote the music that I am privileged to recreate here. When the Quakers cut down all the trees for planting they never realized the soil would all blow away. So they had to replant the trees. It is an honour to replant these songs. In respect of my own material, I had a chance to work with great people that brought light to sound I may not have heard. This album is an independent work conceived and developed in a crucible of awakening.
