Cut Throat Francis

With 2018 beginning to wind itself up into a frenzy, we have been busy working on getting something exciting and raucous to bring you. After a couple of months tying up the loose ends, we’re thrilled to announce that the Deluxe Digital Edition of Ghosts,  the debut EP by Cut Throat Francis will be available from all major stores, and the ScreamLite Records Bandcamp page (www.screamliterecords.bandcamp.com) on; FRIDAY 25th MAY 2018.
This EP has already seen Cut Throat Francis secure a spot at Wonderfields Festival in June this year alongside such great acts as Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Eva Lazarus and David Rodigan, and this expanded edition with new tracks is certainly a strong showing from an energetic and eclectic live band. There’s certainly a lot more to come from them, and this is a bold statement. You can follow Cut Throat Francis at

When someone says there’s new music coming out of Bristol, there is an almost automatic assumption that it will be a hybrid of Roni Size, Massive Attack and a lone folk singer-songwriter. For such a diverse and metropolitan city, it’s quite a narrow field in people’s musical expectations. Over the years since the dawn of the new millennium, we’ ve seen everything from raucous indie rock to ambient experimental and everything in between. Since the summer of 2017 however, all the buzz has been about Cut Throat Francis.
Take one part folk, one part swing and add a big helping of Eastern European flavor and you get yourself a band that sounds like Amy Winehouse fronting Gogol Bordello. The array of instruments that they bring to the fore is reason enough to get to one of their live shows, while the Digital Deluxe edition of Ghosts, coming to all major digital stores on May 25th 2018 has all the ingredients to get your feet tapping and your dancing shoes worn.
From the soulful swing of I’m Not Ready, through to their version of the Geeshie Wiley classic.
These Last Kind Words, Ghosts is an EP full of character, it’s gypsy swing enticing you to get on your feet at every opportunity. Since the release of I’m Not Ready, and Ghosts, in 2017, Cut Throat Francis have bagged themselves a spot at the 2018 edition of Wonderfields Festival and find themselves very much in demand on the Bristol circuit. Their work ethic also sees the band writing new material and reimagining traditional classics. If you’re looking for a night of dancing with the biggest of grins, seek out Cut Throat Francis. Play Ghosts at a party and watch the room swing.

Gordon Ellis & Steel

In the early 1970's, Rick Gordon, Ross Ellis, John Steel and Chris Howard, were a bunch of friends, in their late teens and early twenties, from Mill Hill in north London, who came together through a love of music and beer to form a band called, imaginatively, Gordon Ellis & Steel.
The band was introduced to Vic Keary, who owned Chalk Farm Studios, and signed a recording deal to produce an album for his label, Mushroom Records.
Sadly, just as the album was being finished, the studio and label were struggling financially and soon closed down. As a result, the record deal never happened and the songs were never released. The Chalk Farm recordings were lost to the mists of time.
Fast forward some 45 years to 2017 and the band managed to re-establish contact with Vic and discovered he had kept copies of the original recordings.
Despite being stored away in a cardboard box for so many years, the tapes still played.
The idea of releasing an album was discussed and after some remastering and overdubbing, Looking Forward Thinking Back was released in March 2018. The project begun 45 years ago was finally completed.
