Freeman
Hailing from Teesside in the North East of England, Freeman are a new breed of folk-driven acoustic music. With vocals ranging from the subtle tones of EvaCassidy and Karen Carpenter to a more gritty side calling on influences such as Paramore to give a rockier-edge. Backed by progressive and rock influenced guitars, yet with a more relaxing 'Ray Lamontagne' feel to their tunes, Freeman try to give the listener a simple yet varied experience with their music.
In only a short space of time Freeman have played to audiences all over the North East of England , covering festivals such as Stockton Calling and Staxtonbury, whilst playing at prestigious venues such as The Arc in their home town of Stockton-on-Tees and supporting established artists such as Dan Wilde and Chloe Chadwick. The near future sees Freeman expanding their boundaries to South Yorkshire and beyond as well as planned dates on radio. Freeman see this as an exciting time in their early but fruitful musical careers to locally tour to promote their EP.
The collaboration of Freeman was born through an initial love of rock music between Steven and Andrew, whom in early 2000 formed a band. When they broke up Andrew and Steven kept writing, but without a drummer and bassist, moved to a new medium of acoustic music. They played a number of small local gigs before forming a new progressive rock band and then eventually moving back to acoustic music in 2015. It was around this time that long time friend and lifelong theatrical performer/local choir member Julie posted a video of her singing, she was invited to 'jam' with the guys and soon became the 3rd member of the band. A name was then born after Julie took the mantel of lead, the band wanted to name themselves after her, but shortened it to her maiden name.
After a very early performance in a local battle of the bands they signed a management contract with Mill Lane Management in 2016.
Even in their short history Freeman have had many career highlights including being nominated for Best Indie/Alternative Act and making the final of a Battle of the Bands competition. They were also an open act for one of the stages at Stockton Calling which received acclaim in the culture magazine NE Volume.
"lead singer, Julie Diddams’ powerful vocals reverberated around the walls of the underground venue with pure conviction. Their mix of folk and country with traditional rock meant that there was enough variation to keep gig-goers entertained throughout." NE Volume 15.04.2017
Ride EP (2017)
The EP "Ride" is the first from acoustic folk trio 'Freeman'. The name of the album is not only inspired by the title track but also represents our music journey so far up to the point of release.

The Discarded

Making music, any kind of music but especially loud punky garage music, feels good.
Jared Dean – 18 years old- bass player and brother Caden Jax -14 years olddrummer figured that out quick. The boys needed something positive to grab on to something, something beyond online gaming, so they grabbed their rocker dad and formed a band.
J.P Wasson is best known as the drummer for popular Toronto bands like Fifth Column and The Snowdogs, but Caden wanted to drum, so in The Discarded, dad sings and plays guitar.
Jared, Caden and Joel spent their first seven months in their new house learning how live (alone) together, and how to play their instruments, and be in a band.
They learned quickly, and, being two thirds impetuous teenagers, recorded their nine song self- titled album in August, 2016 at Pro Gold Studios, engineered and mixed by legendary Sir Ian Blurton. The Discarded recorded the whole nine songs in nine and half hours and could have done it quicker if they hadn’t stopped to eat or broken a string. That’s rock and roll and nothing feels better.
