on their debut record ‘Temptation And Half the
Truth’.
Described as the missing link between The Beatles
‘She Loves You’ and The Cult’s ‘She Sells Sanctuary’
Mermaid Avenue’s debut single Effigy puts new
relationships under the microscope with an indie
rock swag addressing the dating or ‘warm up’ phase
of a relationship – those uncharted waters between
lust, and the potential of something more.
As the opener on their upcoming album, Effigy sets
the tone for the tracks that follow, taking
audiences on an all-encompassing journey through the
cycle of a relationship: the good, the bad, and the
ugly. “We wanted to make a traditional album – one
you can play from start to finish. Lyrically, the
album charts the ups and downs of relationships from
first kiss to the ‘bliss’ of domesticity along with
the darker themes of losing loved ones, lost time
and jealousy”.

Since first cutting their teeth live in 2015,
Mermaid Avenue have become a regular feature on the
Brisbane scene driven by the prolific songwriting of
singer Peter Clarke and musicianship of Darren Madeo
(lead guitar), John Doyle (bass) and Anthony Judd
(drums). In early 2018 they expanded their line up
with the addition of keyboardist Marc Besselink
formerly of Dutch neo-progsters Kramer.
The sessions for 'Temptation And Half the Truth'
began in late 2016 and continued over the course of
2017 at The Barn Recording Studio in the Lockyer
Valley. The album was produced by Steve Robin and
mastered at the Chicago Mastering Service by
Margaret Luther.
‘Temptation And Half The Truth’ is now available for
streaming via Spotify, Applemusic and Bandcamp. CD
is available for purchase at CDbaby store.

When You’re Away - a New Single by Daniel Fogel
Recently Daniel Fogel celebrated two years of traveling around
Israel and meeting audience on the “Crossroads of Blues, Rock and
Folk” and it was recorded! Now the rst song out of the future live
album, a ballad “When You’re Away”, is released.
Daniel Fogel is performing solo with his guitar and his music is a
mixture of acoustic blues, rock and folk. Thus, the audience tends
to compare his music to Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and
occasionally Tom Waits.
Back in July 2017 Daniel Fogel released his rst single, an anti-war
protest song “Stick Your Nose In”. Now he is going to release a live
album, “Live at Tsuzamen” and “When You’re Away” is one of the songs
on the album. The release is planned for December 2018, the nal date
is not yet set.
Daniel Fogel was born in Belgrade, Serbia and at the age of 20
immigrated to Israel. After many years of music journalism and music
technology entrepreneurship, in the spring of 2016 Daniel Fogel
nally decided to stop suppressing his own music and he started to
perform in public.
