Artist's Biography
An
unexpected return to solo recording happened when Dom Clark was faced with
two months of lockdown isolation and an empty recording studio. Living
across the road from his studio, the Mustard Seed, Dom imposed a 9-5
discipline and seized what could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to live
and record music without normal life getting in the way. After finishing and
releasing band tracks Castaway and The Exception (Dom Clark Trio) Dom
recorded two solo singles, last month’s Meditation and Replica (released
25/9/20). The song follows a series of singles with his band Dom Clark Trio
that have racked up regular BBC and local radio plays including 6Music
Introducing. Dom plays all the instruments except for some additional guitar
from Colombian pal Andres Miranda.
Dom started his musical life in the northern brass band world, winning solo
competitions and graduating to principal cornet before quitting at 15 to
grow his hair and teach himself guitar. With two school friends their band
The Panda Gang (later The BDIs) became medium-size-in-Japan and were
described by the uk music press as “like Portishead played by real jazz
musicians”. After 3 albums the band split, Dom learnt to sing, and started a
solo career gaining praise from the likes of Tom Robinson along the way and
started the trio in 2017.
Riding the momentum of recent singles, Dom is currently working on debut
albums of solo material and an album with the Trio with releases scheduled
for early 2021. The next release with the Trio will be Old Town Bells in
October. With more covid restrictions incoming Dom has started a new video
series The Mustard Seed Sessions releasing one live session recording every
Sunday 6pm across social media.
