EAST COAST LOW’S NEW ALBUM ‘BADLANDING’ SET TO MAKE A GOOD LANDING

Badlanding is set to make a good landing on your turntable, across streaming and the radio waves this August! Get ready for the long awaited third album from Newcastle stalwarts East Coast Low.

We're stoked to bring you this release from Newcastle's finest purveyors of STEEL CITY ROCK! The single 'Midnight Dancer' is a rock and soul call to action to get out of the doldrums and kick life in the teeth: "we're gonna make you dance, make ya pay, give ya hell"!

With Rob Younger (Radio Birdman/New Christs) at the production helm, this album has crystallised their sound into a swaying, swinging, careening, roaring, infectious rock platters du jour that is sure to please fans and newcomers to the fold alike.

The new record also sees them enlist the services of a solid gold brass section featuring none other than the legendary Rudi Thomson on sax (Xray Spex, The Members, Lords of the New Church, the Jam), Rob Parkes (Mucho Sonar) on trombone and Peter Kelly (New Christs, Vanilla Chainsaws) on trumpet.

'Badlanding' is out 1 August on streaming with pre-orders commencing for vinyl LP and CD.

Who the heck are we?

We are:

Michael “Spike” Cornish - vocals (ex-No Reason)
Geoff Mullard - guitar (Australian Beefweek Show, Drugs in Sport, Cabin Fever)
Chris Hunter - bass (ex-The Fools)
Al Creed - guitar (Van Ruin, ex-New Christs, Hell Crab City, Aberration, The Panadolls, Fruitworld, Hey! Charger)
Adam Waugh - drums

A bit of a history lesson

Borne from the working-class streets of Newcastle, the band’s inception began in 2015, with local punk legends No Reason singer, Spike joining forces with Geoff Mullard and Troy Scerri on guitars, Chris Hunter from other local rock legends The Fools and Nicholai Danko, drummer from purveyors of indie pop 78 Saab completed the lineup.

The band has seen a couple of lineup transitions since it began, with guitarist Troy Scerri (Mortal Sin/Daredevil/Fattura Della Morte) moving on after the first album to devote his time to The Neptune Power Federation and Buffalo.

Al Creed moved in to take up guitar duties and with the departure of Danko after the first album and single Gun Club Road were released, Adam Waugh took up his place on the drum stool.

East Coast Low are “Steel City Rock”
"What can ya say when it's all been done?" Well, "we've played the songs, we've lived and won." That's what... or so the song says, anyway.

East Coast Low - born out of necessity more than anything else - the nagging desire to kick out some serious jams, capture the FEEL, 'cause "ya can't fake the FEEL", right? We know the kids are alright but sometimes ya gotta wonder if it's just a game to them. So what do you do? Take five seasoned heads with over 100 years' experience shredding finger tips, vocal chords, guitar strings and drum skins; you add a healthy dose of seek-and-destroy urgency and you take it to the street.

What you get is an EAST COAST LOW - down low rock, down in yer gut.... rock to escape, rock to keep it real, rock to soothe souls: rock to burn hearts.
