Artist's Biography

Only 2% of the population are redheads and Jayna Jennings makes music as unique as her fiery hair. At twenty years of age, Jayna has over 50 copyrighted songs, has released 2 albums, an EP, and 5 singles, received 22 nominations in coveted music awards, which include 11 nominations for the year 2020. She received the honor of Folk/Americana/Bluegrass Vocalist of the Year in both 2019 and 2020 at the Josie Music Awards, amassed over 50,000 streams on Spotify alone, and has built a uniquely dedicated global fan-base who lovingly refer to themselves as ‘Jengers’, a play on the word ‘gingers’ referencing Jennings’ copper colored curls.


About the Album

This album came out in 2019 and was nominated for album of the year at the 2020 Josie Music Awards. All of the songs connect and are inspired by sounds of nature, literature, and art from the Pre Raphaelite period. It starts with To Narcissus, a song that is comparing a modern romance to the story
of Echo and Narcissus from Ovid's Metamorphosis and moves into The Blue, a song about how sometimes love can feel like drowning or a terrible storm and it tells this story by alluding to Shakespeare's The Tempest (the single cover was inspired by Miranda by John William Waterhouse which was also inspired by this play). The album as a whole tells the story of falling in love, experiencing pain, recovering from loss and learning to grow into one's self individually. It is a story of self worth and identity.

I think it fis best in the Alternative Americana genre because all of the songs are folky with a rock edge, but not quite folk/rock.
