Artist's Biography

ES MANTEEZ are Isa Pill and Eric Dim

Broadcast on FM and web radio stations in France and around the world, they have been invited to perform in Scotland, Germany, and Chicago online.
Isa Pill comes from a background in contemporary dance, having graduated from the Martha Graham School in New York, studied under Peter Goss in Paris, and worked with Lloyd Newson in London (DV8). As choreographer for the Abyla Company, she is fascinated by the sensuality and musicality of the body beyond technique. A need to write sprang from these years of movement, from chronicles to poems, and it was through singing that she returned to the stage. Her lyrics are a puzzle of sensations, from Bach to Lou Reed, from Billy Wilder to David Lynch, from Paris to New York.
Eric Dim, guitarist, whose sensibility ranges from the Flamin' Groovies to the music of John Abercrombie and the Pixies, plays with Little Green Fairy, among others. From his garage to his living room, he composes soundtracks for short films and accompanies dance projects. It was after hearing Isa Pill's voice on a voicemail message that he suggested they form a duo.
Why Les Manteez? The name is inspired by the title MANT!, a short film by Joe Dante included in his film Matinee.

"Elegance, delicacy, and good taste are the order of the day! Les Manteez are a duo who dispense their ‘magical seeds’: Isa Pill, the singer, has the kind of voice you fall in love with.
Highly sensual, her breath warms and caresses you. She sings rather endearing lyrics in French and English. Éric Dim, a multi-instrumentalist, distills a hypnotic rhythm: deep bass and guitar combine to form a solid foundation. He is also a master of the keyboards, but it is on lead guitar that he delights us, guiding us to orgasmic heights, sweeping across all registers of the genre, from folk-rock to the most acid psychedelia. The respective worlds of the two merrymakers intertwine, disentangle, and ultimately merge in eleven finely crafted songs. The atmosphere of the album is poetic, ethereal and sometimes melancholic. As for the sound, it is rich, lush and warm, and for good reason: it is the great Rex Dominique Blanc-Francard, of Château d'Hérouville, who worked on a number of legendary French pop-rock albums, who is at the controls.
