hits.” - Power pop legend, Paul Collins of The Nerves, The Beat and Paul

replacements and a touch of Hüsker Dü. Very cool sounding stuff.” - Canadian

"New and Most Notable
- In an age of streaming, where skipping tracks is the norm, finding an
album that hooks you from start to finish is a rare gem. Mark Ward's latest
release, "Let 'Er Rip," is making waves in Power Pop circles, and it's easy
to see why. The album is a vibrant mix of catchy riffs, singalong choruses,
and irresistible melodies that will have you humming for days.
- The album's first single, "I've Been Around," kicks things off with a
bang, setting the stage for the rest of the album by perfectly showcasing
Ward's knack for blending nostalgic vibes with a fresh twist (and
admittedly, the line “I don’t know you from a can of paint” just makes me
smile). From there, the album takes you on a delightful journey through
genres like Merseybeat and Jangle Pop, each track offering its unique and
infectious groove.
- If you're searching for an album that’ll keep you from start to finish,
“Let ‘Er Rip” is a must-listen. These songs are tailor-made for cruising in
a convertible on a warm summer night—capturing the very essence of what
Power Pop is all about."
- -Bijan, Pop Rocks Radio
“Everything is in its proper place, from the jangling guitars to the massive
musical hooks in each chorus. “I’ve Been Around” has echoes of The
Raspberries in the intro, and follows the early 80s style template, with a
great chorus.”
– Aaron Kupfergerg, Power Popaholic
“Let ‘Er Rip, the second solo album from Alaskan singer-songwriter Mark
Ward, comes recommended by Paul Collins of The Nerves and Paul Collins Beat
fame, and offers power pop gems such as the first single “I’ve Been Around,”
as well as “Pixie Girl” and “Love Me Once Again.” Ward also serves up a few
ballads, and there’s some fun country twang on “Villain” and “The River .“ -
Terry Flamm, Broken Hearted Toy
“It shines, sounds fantastic, and has even garnered praise from Paul
Collins.”
- Patrick Donders, Sweet Sweet Music Blog
“I’ve Been Around” is one of my absolute favorite things so far this year. I
love everything about it. Man, what I wouldn’t give to have a chance to
cover it live with a band, and higher praise than that I cannot bestow.” -
