Biography

Mermaid Avenue are an indie rock/alt.country band hailing from Brisbane, Australia - formed in 2015 around the songwriting of Peter Clarke. Since first cutting their teeth live in 2015, they have become a regular feature on the Brisbane scene driven by the prolific songwriting of singer Clarke and musicianship of Chris Wong & Mike Kearey (guitars), Mark Egan (bass), Casey Lee (keys) and Anthony Judd (drums).

Their debut album 'Temptation and Half the Truth' was released in late 2018 to strong reviews (The second single from the album, ‘Rise’, was a finalist in Blues and Roots Radio’s International Song of The Year.). The band are currently finishing off their second album 'Sugartown', due later in the year. The first singles from the album, 'Turn the Page', 'Philosophy' , 'California', 'Old with You' and 'Don't Settle for the Pain' have already garnered some local and international airplay as well as favourable reviews.

The sessions for 'Sugartown' began in late 2020 and have continued over the course of 2021 at The Barn Recording Studio in the Lockyer Valley. The album was tracked by long time band collaborator Steve Robin with mix duties shared with iconic Australian producer Lachlan 'magoo' Goold.

The band's latest single 'Don't Settle for the Pain' is out now and available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Bandcamp, CD baby and many more.
