Artist's Biography

Nice to meet you! We're 'The Applause', a self producing two-piece Indie/Rock duo from Peterborough in the UK! ✨

We met each other back in 2017 after bumping into each other while playing Pokémon GO! We've both been keen life-long musicians, and would frequently collaborate on cover songs (and some originals) until eventually agreeing to unite under the name 'The Applause' in late 2020. The name's inspiration comes from a combination of influences from Jasmine's musical theatre background, and the sounds of the thunderous applause that would flood the streets in support of all healthcare professionals during the global pandemic.

Jasmine's musical theatre background, combined with her deep understanding of music theory and love for complex music set her up perfectly for writing and performing as half of 'The Applause'. Her influences include Regina Spektor, Amanda Palmer, Emilie Autumn, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Panic! at The Disco (plus many more).
