Artist's Biography

Depression magazine dubbed The Successful Failures as “one of the hardiest
and most prolific outfits on the planet” playing “instantly infectious
melodies that tread the line between power pop and Americana without wholly
committing to either”.
With a name borrowed from a Jack London short story and an indie rock work
ethic The Successful Failures burst onto the scene out of the NJ pinelands
in 2006.
TSF has released 10 full length albums full of songs about vikings,
armadillos, old cars, murder, prison, fences, and girls. The band continues
to showcase their versatility, seamlessly marrying power-pop, garage rock,
classic country and un-affected rock n roll with roots-inflected rock and
winsome, harmonic, pop.
The band has shared the stage with Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou
Harris, Jeff Tweedy, Deer Tick, Dr. Dog, Strand of Oaks, Ike Reilly, JD
McPherson, and many many more. Most of all, the band’s infectious energy and
love for what they do shines through in every live performance.
One fan put it this way, “SF could play on a small raft heading over the
falls and still have a blast and crank out the best tunes this side of the
Milky Way.”
About the Album
2024 is The Successful Failures' 19th year as a working band. Enemy Sublime
is their 11th full length album. Like most of their releases, ES is an
eclectic mix of power-pop, rock, twang, and folk. Recorded in 2024 at
Gradwell House in NJ. Mixed by Travis Harrison (Guided By Voices/Built To
Spill) in Brooklyn, NY. This is the New Jersey band's 6th album since 2017
with the same lineup, being Ron Bechamps, Mick Chorba, Rob Martin, and Pete
Smith. For the artwork the band purposefully shied away from their more
typical Americana look to go with bright colors and crisp geometric shapes
to match the big pop hooks and fresh vibes on this new LP. The first single,
"Costume Party" is currently featured as one of the “Coolest Songs in the
World" on Little Steven's Underground Garage show on SiriusXM radio and is
receiving regular airplay. The band will tour in support of the release and
look forward to sharing this new batch of tunes with the world!
