Artist's Biography
Valerio
Montelatici grew up in Rome with a guitar slung across his shoulder long
before he knew what to do with it. He was one of those kids who didn’t
choose music so much as music chose him — pulling him into smoky rehearsal
rooms, late‑night bus rides, and the restless heartbeat of the city.
In the late ’90s he formed Hang Loose, a band stitched together from
friendship, stubbornness, and the belief that rock could still say something
true. For ten years they played the Roman underground — clubs where the
lights were dim, the amps were loud, and the crowd leaned in because they
felt something real happening onstage. Three demos, one EP, and a decade of
sweat and sound.
When the band dissolved, Valerio didn’t disappear — he simply went quiet. He
stepped back, listened more than he spoke, and let life carve new lines into
him. And when he returned, he came back as a solo artist, writing in
English, carrying the echoes of the bands that raised him — Guns N’ Roses,
Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd — but filtering them through his own
lived-in voice.
His debut album, My Inspiration (2020), felt like a door opening. His
follow‑up, Are We Happy (2026), felt like someone walking through it —
older, clearer, unafraid to ask the questions that linger after midnight.
Today, Valerio writes with the honesty of someone who has stood on stages,
lost them, and found new ones inside himself. His songs carry the grit of
rock, the tenderness of reflection, and the quiet fire of a man who still
believes music can save a moment, if not the world.

Artist's Biography:
Born
in Rome, Italy, on April 4th, 1978. Valerio began playing guitar as a
teenager, and together with some friends, formed a rock band, the “Hang
Loose” and started to compose their first original songs in English. The
time with the "Hang Loose” lasted from 1996 to 2005, a period in which they
produced 3 demos and an official EP released in 2005 for the label Blond
Records. They performed many concerts, mainly in the clubs of the Italian
capital, including Alpheus, Jail Break, Qube and Radio Londra Café. The
dissolution of the band in 2005, was followed by a period of substantial
inactivity, and some collaborations as a guitarist for alternative projects.
In recent years, he has resumed composing, this time on his own and without
the support of a band, thus starting a solo project, always focused on rock
in English. Valerio’s musical preferences are: Guns n 'Roses, Dream Theater,
Pain of Salvation, Queen, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Muse, Lynyrd Skynyrd,
Negrita, Subsonica, Elisa, Max Gazzè, Fabrizio De Andrè and Lucio Battisti.
Nato a Roma il 4 aprile del 1978. Inizia a suonare la chitarra durante
l’adolescenza e insieme ad alcuni amici forma una rock band, gli Hang Loose,
iniziando a comporre i primi brani originali in lingua inglese. L’esperienza
progetto solista, sempre incentrato su rock in lingua inglese.
A livello di preferenze musicali, sono assolutamente da citare Guns n’
Roses, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Queen, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Muse
e Lynyrd Skynyrd per quanto riguarda la musica internazionale e Negrita,
Subsonica, Elisa, Max Gazzè, Fabrizio De Andrè, Lucio Battisti in ambito
nazionale.
