Artist's Biography
Formed
in Glasgow, Scotland, in April 2003, F.O. Machete consists of Natasha
Noramly (bass, vocals) and Paul Mellon (guitar, vocals). They debuted with
their full-length album My First Machete on Lost Dog Recordings, followed by
Blaze of Flashes on Australia's Jam Records.
The band delivers an electrifying fusion of pulverizing hooks, raw energy,
and a playful yet mighty sound. References to Sonic Youth, Pixies, or
Pavement may be a starting point but they are definitely not the whole
story.
With headline tours, high-profile support slots for acts like Dinosaur Jr.
and TV On The Radio, and appearances at festivals both at home and abroad,
the band cemented their place in the UK indie music scene.
In 2011, F.O. Machete went on hiatus: Natasha moved to Los Angeles to join
Bedtime for Toys, while Paul toured globally with Red Light Company
(Columbia Records) and collaborated with Human Don’t Be Angry (Malcolm
Middleton) and Bdy_Prts (featuring members of Arab Strap and Sparrow and the
Workshop).
In 2023, after over a decade apart, Natasha returned to Glasgow, and F.O.
Machete were reunited. Their long-awaited comeback album, Mother of a
Thousand, was recorded at Chem19 Studios with renowned producer Paul Savage
(The Delgados, Mogwai, The Twilight Sad) and is set for release on February
14, 2025, via Last Night From Glasgow.
With BBC Scotland’s Vic Galloway choosing the band as one of his 25 For 25
and Mickey Bradley from The Undertones and BBC Ulster including the track
Confetti Crown in his best of 2024, the next chapter of F.O. Machete
promises lots more excitement and creativity.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
F.O. Machete – Brace Position
Released 26 November 2026
When F.O. Machete returned in 2025 with Mother of a Thousand — their first
album in 19 years — it never felt like a trip down memory lane. The album
reached No. 4 on the Scottish Albums Chart and showed that the band still
had exactly what made them so compelling in the first place: sharp
songwriting, great melodies and a knack for taking an idea somewhere
unexpected.
Now comes Brace Position, released on 26 November 2026.
Following the singles Sleeper Cell and I'm Fine Are You, the album's lead
track, Lost and Found Girl, sets the tone for what's to come. It's classic
F.O. Machete: melodic, immediate and packed with the kind of detail that
rewards repeated listens.
Produced by Paul Savage (Paolo Nutini, The Delgados, Mogwai), Brace Position
finds the band 1Album's Genre 2026 indie sounding completely at home in
their own world. There are big hooks, sharp lyrics, noisy guitars and plenty
of movement in the arrangements, but everything comes back to the songs.
There are songs about plane crashes, dresses and travelling sideways because
there aren't any stairs. The details might be unexpected, but the emotions
underneath them are clear. F.O. Machete have always trusted their listeners
to find their own way into the songs rather than spelling everything out.
And for all the detail and invention, Brace Position is at heart a pop
record. These are songs built to stick around — melodies that stay in your
head, lyrics that reveal more with each listen, and arrangements that keep
opening up.
The album is accompanied by a series of live dates, including a major show
at Glasgow's legendary Barrowland Ballroom with Goodbye Mr Mackenzie on 11
December. The following night, the band will celebrate Brace Position with
the official album launch at The Mash House in Edinburgh.
After the long-awaited return of Mother of a Thousand, Brace Position feels
like the natural next step. F.O. Machete aren't looking backwards. They're
continuing to make sharp, ambitious and melodic songs on their own terms.
Get ready for Brace Position.
Released 26 November 2026 via Last Night From Glasgow.

the song: "Sleeper
Cell"
Artist's Biography
F.O.
Machete moves like a spark in a dark room — a restless creator who treats
every track as a coded transmission from the underground. Born out of DIY
grit and late‑night experimentation, Machete’s sound blends jagged
electronics, post‑punk tension, and the raw pulse of street‑level
storytelling. He isn’t interested in polish; he’s interested in truth — the
kind that hums beneath the surface, the kind you only hear when the city
goes quiet.
Across his work, Machete cuts through noise with sharp intent. His vocals
swing between spoken-word urgency and melodic fragments, while his
production leans into fractured beats, metallic textures, and the feeling of
something lurking just outside the frame. There’s rebellion in his tone, but
also vulnerability — a sense that every song is both a warning and a
confession.
F.O. Machete stands firmly in the lineage of artists who build their own
worlds from scratch. He’s a one‑man broadcast tower, transmitting from the
margins, inviting listeners into a space where paranoia becomes poetry and
resistance becomes rhythm.
“Sleeper Cell” feels like a message
smuggled inside a beat. The track moves with quiet menace — low-end rumble,
clipped percussion, and Machete’s voice threading through like a coded
directive. It’s a song about hidden forces, internal battles, and the moment
when dormant energy finally wakes up.
There’s tension, but also clarity: the sense that the sleeper isn’t just an
agent in the shadows, but a part of ourselves waiting to rise. The track
hits like a pulse under the skin — steady, unsettling, impossible to ignore.
