Release: Beth Peabody Debuts First Solo Singles “Other Woman” and “Don’t
Play”
I am excited to introduce “Other Woman” and “Don’t Play,” the debut singles
from Beth Peabody, known for her vocal harmonies in the Jim Basnight Band.
Produced in collaboration with Grammy award-winning engineer Garey Shelton,
these tracks mark Beth’s first steps as a solo artist. Both songs were
written by me, Jim Basnight, and recorded over a busy summer.
Beth was backed by a talented lineup, including Garey Shelton on bass and
production, drummer Sean Peabody (Beth’s husband), guitarist Bruce Hazen,
and other local musicians. This dynamic team also helped complete an entire
new album of fresh material, which will be released soon. However, I was so
inspired by Beth’s talent and creativity that I wanted to share these
singles immediately. Who is Beth Peabody?
Beth has been a key member of the Jim Basnight Band since 2019, and after
five years of incredible harmonies, it’s time for her to shine on her own.
Her musical roots run deep—she grew up in Cooperstown, NY, and lived in
various cities including Billings, MT, Huntsville, AL, and Tacoma, WA. She
spent her youth immersed in musical theater and choir, developing her
impressive three-octave range and near-perfect ear. With six years of piano
lessons under her belt, Beth discovered her passion for singing and playing
music. After meeting her husband Sean in 2017, Beth joined him in their duo,
Untamed Spirit, before becoming a harmony vocalist in the Jim Basnight Band
in 2019. Her influences range from Classic oldies like The Turtles and The
Beatles to powerhouse female vocalists like Reba McEntire, Christina
Aguilera, P!nk, Patsy Cline, Sara Evans, and Stevie Nicks
About the Singles
“Other Woman” is a rootsy, rock-driven track reminiscent of the bold and
sassy styles of Deborah Harry and Chrissy Hynde. It captures the playful
spirit of classic duets like Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood or Johnny Cash
and June Carter. Meanwhile, “Don’t Play” is a jangly pop tune filled with
charm and raw emotion, showcasing Beth’s vocal range and her ability to
bring rock and roll to life with passion.
