Dead Man’s Handle
Artist's Biography:
Short Bio: The band describe their music
as, ‘blues with cojones’. Their enthusiastic performances feature
outstanding tunes with raucous harmonica, powerful vocals, supercharged
guitar, funky bass and rock solid drums - what's not to like? Check out the
best band you never heard of, before everyone else catches on!
Long Bio Chasin’ The Train describe their
music as, ‘ … blues with style, taste and cojones’. The five members have
all been involved in playing a wide variety of musical styles in different
bands over their long careers, but have been working together since early
2014 and are united by their love of out-of-the-ordinary blues tunes. The
band takes great pride in seeking out lesser known songs or obscure versions
of well-known standards to play alongside their original material. Their
enthusiastic, high-energy performance features outstanding blues rock tunes
with raucous harmonica, raw, powerful vocals, supercharged guitar, funky
bass and rock solid drums - what's not to like? Regular gigging has enabled
them to perfect their sound and build a strong reputation on the live
circuit, as well as the respect of their fellow musicians.
They produced a 4-track covers CD, (‘Off The Rails’), back in May 2016,
with
a limited pressing quickly selling out at their shows, as well as generating
local, national and international radio play. The band put out a 2-track
digital only single, (release date – Friday 27th April 2018) and following
its release, Chasin’ the Train’s music has been played on a number of local,
national and international radio stations and they’ve also taken part in
faceto-face and ‘down the line’ interviews about the band. They released
their debut album, ‘Dead Man’s Handle’, on Friday 3rd April 2020 – it’s
available digitally across a number of download stores and streaming
services, as well as in a CD format featuring two bonus tracks and a 12-page
booklet with lyrics.
One of the band’s original songs - 'Temporary Man' - was featured on the
Jock's Juke Joint Volume 4 CD, which was released on 24th November 2018.
Based on the theme of a fictitious Scottish juke joint, (a vernacular term
for an informal establishment featuring music, dancing, gambling, and
drinking. Classic juke joints were found at rural crossroads), the
collection features everything you’d wish to hear in such an establishment.
Whatever your taste in blues, there is something to appeal to you. The blues
in Scotland has always produced passionate performers, from pioneers like
Alex Harvey, Tam White and Frankie Miller to Blues'N'Trouble, The Nimmo
Brothers and Dave Arcari.
The band are based in Dumfries, (South-West Scotland) and are rapidly
acquiring a loyal fanbase following appearances at Rock the Loch, The Beltie
Beer Festival, the Big Burns Supper festival and The Maryport Blues Festival
and Maryport Live!, along with regular gigs in the Dumfries area, Ayr,
Kilmarnock, Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Borders and Cumbria. They organised and
promoted the sold out ‘Rockin’ at the Royal’ show in the Theatre Royal,
Dumfries in October 2018, and supported Edinburgh’s Black Cat Bone at
Kirkpatrick Durham in April 2019, as well as playing the Cloven Hoof stage
at the inaugural Call of the Wild Festival, which was held near Lincoln at
the end of May 2019.
Chasin’ The Train are primed to deliver their brand of the blues. Do
yourself a favour and check out the best band you never heard of, before
everyone else catches on!

About the Album:
Album
Release: ‘Dead Man’s Handle’ by Chasin’ the Train Release Date: Friday 3rd
April 2020 Genre: Blues, BLues Rock
Chasin’ the Train’s debut album, ‘Dead Man’s Handle’ was released
worldwide on Friday 3rd April 2020 on iTunes, Amazon and all major online
music platforms in digital format only, as well as streaming sites such as
Spotify. It will also be available as a deluxe digipak CD, which comes with
two bonus tracks and a 12-page booklet.
This album is the distillation of the talents of all the band members.
Although it’s firmly rooted in the blues, elements of classic rock, jazz,
punk, folk and - whisper it - prog make their presence felt. Energetic and
intriguing, melodic, moody and diverse. The songs have been road-tested
live, with regular gigging enabling the band to perfect their sound and
build a strong reputation on the live circuit, as well as the respect of
their fellow musicians. ‘ … their live shows are incredible …they tear it up
everywhere they go.’ Reverend Jim (Hidden Gems Show, East End Community
Radio)
‘Dead Man’s Handle’ can be viewed as a snapshot of a band confident of their
abilities. They say the only problem they had was choosing which songs to
put on the album, and as a result they now have their eye on a second
release.
The five members of Chasin’ the Train have been involved in playing a wide
variety of musical styles in different bands over their long careers, but
have been working together since early 2014, and are united by their love of
out-of-the-ordinary blues tunes. Although they started out playing cover
versions of existing songs, it soon became apparent that the band had so
much more to give, and that manifested itself in the writing of original
material. They released a two-track digital single in April 2018 which
garnered excellent reviews, as well as having a song featured on the
prestigious Jock’s Juke Joint Volume 4 Scottish blues compilation CD in
November 2018.
