the song: "Bronx
Love"
Artist's Biography
Singer-songwriter
and guitarist Johnny Vitulli delivers a heartfelt ode to his roots with his
latest single, “Bronx Love.” Blending sentimental yet uplifting indie-pop
melodies with evocative storytelling, the track captures the stark contrasts
of the Bronx—where struggle and resilience, chaos and inspiration, exist
side by side.
The inspiration for “Bronx Love” struck Johnny during a drive through the
Bronx with his father. Witnessing a familiar scene of hardship in the
streets, his father’s simple yet profound words—“The Bronx is love”— planted
the seed for what would become this deeply personal song.
“Our lives were chaotic and uncertain growing up, but we could always rely
on the professionalism and consistency of the Yankees,” says Vitulli.
“Particularly Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera—they represented something
steady, something to believe in. Yankee Stadium was our refuge, a beacon of
hope amidst the darkness of the city streets. The contrast between those two
worlds—the gritty reality of the Bronx and the almost spiritual feeling
inside that stadium—was something I had to capture in this song.”
Sonically, “Bronx Love” is a sentimentally somber yet uplifting indie-pop
track, rich with dynamic guitar work and emotive lyricism. True to Vitulli’s
style, the song channels the raw energy of New York life while maintaining a
universal appeal. His melodic storytelling and poignant songwriting
transport listeners straight to the heart of the Bronx—its grit, its ghosts,
and its undeniable spirit.
Born and raised in New York, Johnny Vitulli has spent years honing his craft
across the globe—from Australia and Thailand to New Zealand and Italy. After
more than 15 years playing in bands, he took the leap into a solo career,
crafting songs that serve as both personal therapy and a means of
connection.
Now based in Los Angeles, Johnny continues to write and perform, using his
music as a bridge to bring people together through relatable lyrics and
unforgettable melodies.
At its core, “Bronx Love” is a testament to what Johnny believes most, taken
from one of his biggest inspirations, ‘Bad Brains’: “Love is the answer.”
