Originally formed in Queens, New York, in 2006, The Secret Radio reflects
the borough’s diversity. Led by English singer-songwriter Damian Fowler and
featuring a rotating cast of international musicians, the band’s distinctive
sound fuses atmospheric arrangements with sharp lyrics, evoking influences
such as David Bowie, Radiohead, and Regina Spektor.
Their latest track, "Swimming Pool On Mars," from the debut album
"Shortwave," illustrates the band’s signature balance of melody and
emotional profundity. It welcomes you into a world where rock meets
dreamlike storytelling, with infectious energy taking center stage from the
very first note.
"Swimming Pool On Mars" opens with a bold piano motif, immediately setting a
dramatic and immersive tone. As the song progresses, steady drums enter,
locking in a solid rhythm alongside crisp guitar hooks. Damian Fowler's
vocals stand out with a raw yet melodic intensity, guiding you through a
surreal narrative. As layers build, the track becomes increasingly
cinematic, with sweeping instrumentation and emotive swells pulling you
deeper into its dreamlike world.
The album "Shortwave," which is also out now, was co-produced by Asen Doykin
and Damian Fowler. It features contributions from Bebbo (guitar), Martin
Doykin (bass), Oskar Haggdahl (drums), Naeemah Z. Maddox (backing vocals),
and Dean Olsher (accordion). Mastering was handled by Adrian Morgan at
Timeless Mastering, ensuring sonic depth and clarity.
With its ethereal yet theatrical style, "Swimming Pool On Mars" reaffirms
The Secret Radio’s ability to create music that is as cinematic as it is
deeply personal. It is available to stream now!
